Obsession Tracker ™ is built on a privacy-first architecture. We believe your location data, tracking sessions, and treasure hunting activities are yours alone. This privacy policy explains how we keep it that way.
Key Privacy Principles
No Account Required: You can use Obsession Tracker ™ without creating an account. No email, no password, no user profile.
Local-Only Storage: All your tracking data stays on your device. We don't upload your GPS breadcrumbs, waypoints, or photos to our servers.
End-to-End Encryption: Your device database is encrypted with AES-256. Only you can decrypt it (with your device passcode or biometric auth).
Anonymous Usage: We don't track who you are, where you go, or what you find. You're anonymous to our backend services.
Information We DO NOT Collect

Information We DO Collect
1. Land Ownership Data Downloads (Premium Only)
When you use Premium features to download land ownership data for offline use, we receive:
• Which state(s) you download (e.g., "Montana", "Colorado")
• Anonymous device ID (randomly generated, used for API authentication)
• Download timestamp
Why: To serve you pre-generated state data files and enforce Premium subscription limits.
Privacy Benefit: Once downloaded, all land data queries happen locally on your device. We have no way of knowing which properties you view, which trails you explore, or where you actually go. Your location and search activity remain completely private.
2. Subscription Status (Premium Only)
When you subscribe to Premium, Apple/Google shares your subscription status with us via RevenueCat:
• Subscription status (active/expired/trial)
• Anonymous RevenueCat ID (not your Apple ID or Google account)
• Subscription start/end dates
Why: To grant access to Premium features. RevenueCat handles payment processing — we don't see your credit card or payment info.
3. Platform Crash Reports (Apple/Google)
We do not collect crash reports directly. However, Apple and Google may share anonymized crash data with us through their developer consoles if you have opted in to share diagnostics at the operating system level (in your device's Settings).
This platform-level sharing is controlled by Apple/Google, not by our app. See your device settings to manage this preference:
• Android: Settings → Google → Usage & diagnostics
Local Crash Logs: The app stores crash logs locally on your device for debugging purposes. These logs never leave your device unless you explicitly export and share them with us for support.
4. Local Device Data (Stays on Your Device)
The following data is stored locally on your device only and is not uploaded to our servers:
• GPS breadcrumbs (your tracking sessions and location history)
• Photos you capture during tracking sessions
• Waypoints and treasure finds you mark
• Session notes and metadata
• Exported files (.otx, GPX, KML, CSV formats)
• Offline map tiles (cached for offline use)
• App preferences and settings
This data is encrypted with AES-256 and protected by your device passcode or biometric authentication. You have full control to export or delete this data at any time.
5. Support Requests
If you email us for support (support@obsessiontracker.com), we collect your email address and the content of your message. We use this solely to respond to your inquiry and then delete it after resolution.
App Permissions
Obsession Tracker ™ requires the following device permissions to function. All data accessed through these permissions stays on your device:
Location (Required): To record your GPS tracking breadcrumbs, show your position on the map, and query land ownership data for your current area. Location data stays on your device — only anonymous map bounds are sent for Premium land data queries.
Camera (Optional): To capture photos of your treasure finds during tracking sessions. Photos are stored locally on your device with GPS coordinates and sensor data (pitch, roll, yaw).
Photo Library (Optional): To view and attach existing photos to waypoints or tracking sessions. We only access photos you explicitly select.
Storage (Required): To save your encrypted tracking database, photos, offline map tiles, and exported session files (.otx, GPX, KML, CSV). All data stays on your device.
Motion & Fitness (Optional): To enhance photo metadata with device orientation (pitch, roll, yaw) when capturing treasure finds. Helps you remember the angle and direction you were facing.
How We Use Your Data
Land Ownership Data: To serve real-time property boundaries, activity permissions, and trail data
Subscription Status: To grant access to Premium features and manage subscriptions
Crash Reports: To fix bugs and improve app stability
Support Requests: To provide customer support
We do not sell your data, share it with advertisers, or use it for marketing beyond improving the app.
Third-Party Services
RevenueCat (Subscription Management)
We use RevenueCat to manage in-app subscriptions. RevenueCat receives your subscription status from Apple/Google but not your payment info. They provide us an anonymous ID to verify your Premium status.
Mapbox (Map Rendering)
We use Mapbox to render map tiles. Mapbox may receive your IP address and map tile requests (which region you're viewing) but not your precise location or tracking data.
Apple App Store / Google Play (Payment Processing)
When you purchase a subscription, Apple/Google processes your payment. We don't see your credit card info. See their privacy policies: Apple | Google
Your Data Rights
Access: All your data is on your device. You have full access via the app.
Export: Export your tracking sessions to GPX, KML, CSV, or encrypted .otx format anytime.
Delete: Uninstall the app to delete all your data. We don't have backups because we don't store it.
Opt-Out: Disable crash reporting in Settings if you don't want to share crash data.

Device Security Disclaimer
YOUR DEVICE, YOUR RESPONSIBILITY
While we encrypt your data within the app using AES-256, the ultimate security of data on your device depends on your device's security settings. This includes your device passcode, biometric locks (Face ID, Touch ID, fingerprint), operating system updates, and protection against malware.
Obsession Community LLC is not responsible for:
✕ Unauthorized access to your device or data due to inadequate device security
✕ Data exposure resulting from lost or stolen devices
✕ Security breaches caused by malware, viruses, or compromised operating systems
✕ Data accessed by other apps with device-level permissions
✕ Interception of data you choose to export or share
We strongly recommend enabling device passcode/biometric locks, keeping your operating system updated, and using the app's built-in biometric lock feature for additional protection.
Data Loss Disclaimer
Because your data is stored locally on your device only, Obsession Community LLC does not maintain backups of your tracking sessions, waypoints, photos, or any other user data.
Obsession Community LLC is not responsible for data loss caused by:
✕ Device failure, damage, or loss
✕ App crashes or software bugs
✕ Operating system updates or reinstallation
✕ Accidental deletion by the user
✕ Uninstalling and reinstalling the app
✕ Factory reset or device wipe
Protect Your Data
We strongly recommend regularly exporting your tracking sessions to GPX, KML, or encrypted .otx format. Store these exports in a secure location (cloud storage, external drive) to protect against data loss.
Children's Privacy
Obsession Tracker ™ is not directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has used our app, contact us at support@obsessiontracker.com.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. We'll notify you via the app or this website. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
